The privacy of members and their families is important to the Cerebral Palsy Support Network (CPSN). We are committed to protecting your privacy and we abide by the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act. All written, spoken and observed information as well as information stored is treated as private and confidential.
What information is collected and why?
In order to provide you with the highest standard of service, our organisation needs to collect personal information from you before and during use of our services. We only collect information that is directly relevant to effective service delivery.
Information is generally collected directly from members. To ensure you receive the best service possible, it may be required to collect information regarding personal details including name, contact details, medical details, health, abilities & routines.

The CPSN website contains links to other sites. We are not responsible for the content and the privacy practices of other websites and we encourage you to examine each site’s privacy policy and make your own decisions regarding the accuracy, reliability and correctness of material and information found.
We do not collect personal information about you when you visit our website, unless you choose to provide this information via our online inquiry and membership forms.
Through the use of ‘cookies’ we anonymously track your visit in order to compile statistical information about the use of our website. If you prefer not to allow the use of ‘cookies’, you should be able to adjust your browser to turn them off or notify you when ‘cookies’ are being used. Who has access to your information?
Naturally much of this sort of information is of a personal nature and some of it might be regarded as “sensitive” and not the sort of information that you would wish to have unnecessarily disclosed to others.
Your personal information collected will not be disclosed to other parties without your permission. When you access a CPSN service we will only disclose necessary information to an authorised agency to enable us administer the service you are accessing. There are certain circumstances that we will disclose information. Such as if we are required to by law such as a court subpoena or staff testifying under oath, if it is reasonable that the disclosure is necessary to prevent or lessen serious threat to the life or health of the member or employee and when requested by community visitors who have full legal access to consumer information about a service with a disability.
CPSN will take all necessary measures to prevent unauthorized access to or disclosure of your personal information. All information collected is stored securely at the CPSN office. Only staff and Board of Management members who are authorized to handle sensitive information will have access to your records. You have the right to access your records at all times.
Can you access or make changes to your information?
Under the Freedom of Information Act you may access your information held about you. You can make changes to the information held by the CPSN at any time and we encourage you to keep your information current.
